Prof. John Doyle is one of three winners of the 2024 Norman F. Ramsey Prize in Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, and in Precision Tests of Fundamental Laws and Symmetries.

The prize, created in honor of former Harvard faculty member Norman Ransey, recognizes outstanding accomplishments in his two fields: atomic, molecular, and optical physics, and precision tests of fundamental laws and symmetries. The other recipoients of the prize are Gerald Gabrielse, George Vasmer Leverett Professor of Physics, Emeritus (currently at Northwestern University) and David DeMille (University of Chicago).

The citation for Prof. Doyle reads:

"*For pioneering work in molecular physics, cooling, and spectroscopy that has profoundly advanced the search for the electric dipole moment of the electron, and for placing stringent constraints on modifications to the Standard Model in a tabletop experiment.*"
