Cumrun Vafa Receives Mustafa Prize in All Areas of Science and Technology

Prof. Cumrun Vafa has been awarded a Mustafa Prize in All Areas of Science and Technology in a ceremony held on October 21, 2021, in Tehran (Iran) for his work on F-theory. He shares this award with Prof. Zahid Hasan from Princeton University.

The Mustafa Prize is a science and technology award granted biennially to the top researchers and scientists of the Islamic world, in four categories: “Life and Medical Science and Technology”, “Nanoscience and Nanotechnology”, “Information and Communication Science and Technology”, and “All areas of science and technology”. The Prize is granted to works deemed to have improved the human life, made tangible and cutting-edge innovations on the boundaries of science, or presented new scientific methodology. 

The Prize includes an award of US $500.000, and Prof. Vafa has donated his share of it to the Institute for Research in Fundamental Science in Iran.
