Vishwanath Wins 2024 Oliver E. Buckley Condensed Matter Physics Prize

October 24, 2023
Prof. Ashvin Vishwanath

Prof. Ashvin Vishwanath is a co-recipient, with Prof. Qikun Xue (Tsinghua University, China), of the 2024 Oliver E. Buckley Condensed Matter Physics Prize. Prof. Vishwanath's citation reads "for groundbreaking theoretical and experimental studies on the collective electronic properties of materials that reflect topological aspects of their band structure."

The prize was endowed in 1952 by AT&T Bell Laboratories (now Bell Laboratories, Alcatel-Lucent) and is currently co-sponsored with the HTC-VIA Group as a means of recognizing outstanding theoretical or experimental contributions to condensed matter physics. It is named in memory of Oliver E. Buckley, an influential president of Bell Labs.
